Camp Courage

An Unforgettable Experience for Our Patients

Operated by Prisma Health BI-LO Charities Children’s Cancer Center, and supported by Clement’s Kindness, Clement’s Kindness helped make camp possible for years. Camp Courage creates an unforgettable recreational and educational experience for children and teens living with cancer or serious blood disorders and being treated at the BI-LO Charities Children’s Cancer Center. The camp is held at Pleasant Ridge Camp and Retreat Center. Clement’s Kindness is proud to support Camp Courage by providing the funding to build six cabins, the Dr. Cary E. Stroud Camper Care Center (an onsite infirmary), and Pam’s Peaceful Places.

Building
Community

Camp Courage provides an opportunity for campers with unique medical needs to share similar experiences with peers and build friendships.

Improving
Self Esteem

Through medically safe activities, campers can build confidence and self esteem while learning teamwork and goal setting.

A Sense of
Normalcy

Attending a session at camp gives our patients – and their families – a sense of normalcy hard come by elsewhere.

"Andrew rang the bell in August of 2022. Now that he's in remission, he’s also looking forward to attending Camp Courage with other cancer fighters just like him."
