Mill had always dreamed of playing college football. A strong athlete with a passion for the game, he never imagined that a routine injury would alter his life forever. During a high school football game, Mill injured his knee. What initially seemed like a minor issue turned into something far more serious—stage 4 lymphoma.
Diagnosed in his senior year, Mill had to pause his football dreams to focus on treatment. Chemotherapy became part of his routine, but his athletic mindset kept him resilient. “I didn’t feel pain,” he says. “If my mom had allowed me, I would’ve still played football throughout chemo.”
Throughout it all, Clement’s Kindness was present, offering support in ways he never anticipated—helping with gas money for treatments, covering meals on long hospital days, and even hosting events where he could connect with other young survivors.
Now cancer-free, Mill is focused on his future. He works at BMW, gaining experience while considering starting his own business— an entertainment center for kids in his hometown of Spartanburg. His journey has reshaped his outlook on life, strengthening his faith and determination. He emphasizes the importance of maintaining a positive perspective, stating, “If you think positively, you’ll get through anything.”
Mill’s relationship with God became a crucial source of strength during treatment. He reflects on their bond, saying, “On my treatment days, it was sometimes just me and God and nothing but a wall of treatment and some medicine coming through my chest. It was just me and God, and we had a great bond throughout my treatment. So I feel like if you think positive, you’ll get through it.”
This spiritual connection, combined with his athletic mindset, helped him stay strong. While football may not be his current path, Mill remains determined to overcome challenges and achieve his goals. His journey serves as a testament to the power of positivity and support networks like Clement’s Kindness, and his resilience proves that no challenge is too big to overcome.
